Facial cosmetic surgery

Facial cosmetic surgery involves a series of non-surgical medical procedures aimed at improving the aesthetic appearance of the face, delaying aging and/or enhancing features.

We must point out that the medical procedures involved are non-surgical as they are performed using techniques, such as injections, which do not require surgery.

Botulinum protein or Botox is a purified natural protein used to reduce or eliminate facial wrinkles. It is injected in small amounts into different parts of the face and does not require anaesthetic.

Hyaluronic acid and hydroxyapatite are substances made from artificial synthesis that are in injected to add volume and improve lines and wrinkles in the face. They can also be used to add volume and enhance the lips. This procedure requires local anaesthetic.

Thread lifting involves the use of threads to tense the soft parts of the face in order to correct looseness and sagging of the skin tissues brought on by age. It is performed as an outpatient procedure and require a local anaesthetic.

Medical checks and communication with the patient allow us to design a personalised plan for achieving a younger appearance of the face through a combined treatment approach.

Dr Núria Mir Ulldemolins is an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist. She is currently Head of the ENT Department of l’Esperit Sant de Santa Coloma de Gramanet Hospital and spokesperson for the facial plastic surgery section of the Spanish Association of Otorhinolaryngology.

She completed her residency training in Otolaryngology and Cervicofacial Pathology at Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona. Throughout her career, rhinoseptoplasty and facial surgery have been her main focus; Dr Mir has attended courses and placements with surgeons specialising in rhinoplasty, such as Dr G. Aiach in Paris. She has published articles on rhinoseptoplasty and regularly participates in courses, seminars and conferences on the subject.

She also has a PhD in surgical medicine and a MSc in Medicine and Cosmetic Surgery from the University of Barcelona.
